Christ-Centered Easter Game
I did this activity with the CTR 4 class I teach at church and they loved trying to figure out which picture went with the action they chose! I loved that it really thinking about the events leading up to Christ’s death.
Preparation
Pictures of Events from Christ’s final week (I printed these free images - triumphal entry, cleansing the temple, last supper, Garden of Gethsemane, Crucifixion, and Risen Lord at the tomb)
Paper slips with actions - Grab this free printable
Easter Eggs (optional) - I put the action slips into easter eggs but you could just fold them up and put them in a basket
Playing
Have kids look at pictures symbolizing the events of Christ’s final week. These might include the triumphal entry, cleansing the temple, the last supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Crucifixion, and the Risen Lord at the tomb. As they look at each picture ask them what they think is happening and what they notice. You could talk about objects they see, what people are doing, colors, how the people might be feeling, what time of day it seems like, etc. After talking about each picture, hang it up around the room. You’ll need a few feet between each picture.
After you’ve discussed all the pictures, pull out the basket of eggs. Take turns choosing an egg from the basket. Read the action and have all the children run to the picture where they think that action might be happening and do it.
