How We Use Our Magnet Tiles

Magnet tiles are one of our favorite toys! They are so versatile and open-ended. There are tons of brands, but this brand is the one we have and we love it! It’s on the less expensive side compared to other brands and it’s easy to build with, but still easy to take apart. We’ve never had an issue with quality and we love that the tiles aren’t hollow so that you can hold things in the boxes you build. So here are some of the ways we use our magnet tiles.

1. Building Houses

Whether it’s a castle or a zoo or just a regular old house this is probably the most common way we play with our magnet tiles.

2. Making Shapes

We like trying to make shapes to match to our geometric solids. Some of. the ones we’ve figured out how to make are cubes, rectangular prisms, hexagonal prisms, triangular prisms, square-based pyramids, and hexagonal pyramid.

3. Racing Games

We’ve done this one with cars, ducks, animals, you can race pretty much anything! All you need is your contestants to race and a dice. Line up the tiles to make a track and then take turns rolling the dice and counting to move the contestant forward. Whoever makes it to the end first is the winner!

4. Marble Mazes

For this one you need some sort of ball to roll down your maze. You can built this on the fridge or on the ground. You could try covering the ball in aluminum foil or tape to talk about how it affects the ball.

5. Garages

For this one we make different colored garages and then find matching colored cars to park in each garage. Oak also likes to help draw crazy road lines for each car to follow to get to their matching garage.

6. Dominos

For this one you just make a path of tiles and then stand a tile up at each intersection. When you are ready push one down and watch the chain reaction as they all fall over!
